Comerica Business Accounts Transition to Fifth Third

Comerica says its customer transition to Fifth Third is complete, with business access moving into the Fifth Third environment after the Labor Day conversion.

Why this matters: BusinessBanks.us follows changes that can alter account-opening friction, payment controls, lending capacity, deposit protection or bank operating workflows. Product implementation can vary by institution.

The transition status

Comerica now states that it is part of Fifth Third and that the customer transition is complete. Its business pages had directed customers to prepare for Comerica accounts to become Fifth Third accounts beginning September 4, 2026.

What business customers should verify

A converted business should confirm online and mobile access, user permissions, ACH and wire templates, treasury entitlements, bill-pay settings, merchant settlement instructions, remote deposit workflows and any accounting integrations. Conversion success at the account level does not automatically prove every operating workflow transferred exactly as expected.

Why this matters for bank comparisons

Historical Comerica product pages are no longer a normal basis for a new-bank shopping decision. Current comparisons should evaluate Fifth Third’s active business-banking structure while treating legacy Comerica content mainly as transition context.

Operational checklist

Reconcile opening balances in the converted environment, test payment approvals with low-risk transactions, confirm statement delivery and account numbers used by counterparties, and document any changed support contacts or treasury procedures.

Translate the headline into an operating decision.

Confirm how the change affects your bank, your account agreement and your internal workflow before changing providers or payment procedures.
