How we ranked
We used the same criteria across every bank in this shortlist:
- Practical entry checking structure
- Support for growing transaction and cash needs
- Broader relationship options for lending and treasury
- Fit for multi-user or multi-location operating needs
We did not rank by brand size, advertising, affiliate payout or temporary signup bonus. A bank can rank highly for one operating pattern and much lower for another.

Why each bank made the list
1. Chase — Best broad-service LLC relationship
Chase offers a clear three-tier checking ladder plus merchant, lending and treasury services under one relationship.
Best fit: Good for LLCs that expect branches, cash handling or multiple financial products to matter.
Watch-out: Balance requirements rise sharply at upper checking tiers.
2. Bank of America — Best relationship-based LLC structure
Business Advantage Fundamentals and Relationship Banking provide a straightforward two-tier path with fee waivers tied to balances, card activity or relationship status.
Best fit: Useful for LLCs that consolidate balances and want a large-bank ecosystem.
Watch-out: Entry pricing is less compelling for businesses that cannot meet waiver conditions.
3. U.S. Bank — Best low-cost LLC entry
Business Essentials is $0 with unlimited digital transactions, while Gold and Platinum add higher conventional transaction capacity.
Best fit: Good for LLCs that begin digital-first but may later want branch and relationship services.
Watch-out: Teller/paper activity on the entry tier is limited.
4. PNC — Best for LLCs scaling into treasury
PNC’s three-step ladder moves from basic checking to 500 transactions and then unlimited transactions under Treasury Enterprise.
Best fit: Strong for operating LLCs inside PNC’s footprint that expect payment complexity to grow.
Watch-out: The highest tier is more treasury-oriented and relationship dependent.
5. First Citizens — Best detailed tier progression
First Citizens publishes four business checking levels from $0 with paperless statements through higher transaction, cash and treasury allowances.
Best fit: Useful for LLCs that want incremental upgrades without changing banks.
Watch-out: The higher tiers require balances or relationship activity to waive fees.
Important limitations
Published account allowances are only part of total cost. Businesses should also model branch geography, out-of-pattern transaction fees, wire and ACH pricing, merchant services, user permissions, fraud controls and the value of balances required for fee waivers. Product terms can change after our verification date, so confirm current disclosures before opening or moving an account.

The best practical choice is the bank whose fee structure and operating limits fit your actual transaction, cash, payment and servicing pattern—not simply the bank at the top of a generalized list.
